Unemployment and poverty remain major challenges across Afghanistan, especially for youth and women. BEST provides vocational and livelihood training programs that equip people with practical, marketable skills — enabling them to generate income, support their families, and live with dignity.
Through courses in tailoring, carpentry, plumbing, food processing, and small business management, BEST helps individuals turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods and stronger communities.
BEST has trained more than 2,000 youth and women in employable skills, with a significant portion successfully employed or self-employed. Courses cover carpentry, plumbing, masonry, tailoring, welding, embroidery, and food processing, complemented by Small Business Management training in entrepreneurship, bookkeeping, market access, and resource management. BEST also supports income generation for ex-combatants, returnees, and women entrepreneurs, and delivers shelter and community infrastructure under UNHCR’s Community-Based Protection Measures (CBPM).
